Expert Tips

  1. When using the Chod rig, it is essential to use a hook that is sharp enough to penetrate the carp's tough mouth. Check your hooks regularly and sharpen them if needed.
  2. Chod rigs are best used over weedy, silty, or debris-covered bottoms where a bottom bait would be difficult to present effectively. It's an excellent choice when the lakebed is unknown, or when you see carp showing in an area, as the rig's stiff nature and the fact the bait floats ensures the bait hovers just above the debris.
  3. Avoid using a chod rig on clean, gravelly spots, where a bottom bait is typically a better choice.
